What I wanted to do here was capture the wild, awkward, unorthodox nature of this album. When you get Mad Lib on the beats and MF Doom on the mic there is bound to be tons of inspirational content for use in graphics. I illustrated the famous MF Doom mask adding on my swirl horns (which are a part of my W.BAU painting series), throwing in a brass knuckle crown and a set of gold fronts. I surrounded the illustration with visual excepts of Dooms lyrics all topped off with my trademark vintage 12″ album cover theme.
From Rainbows to Drano this is a great album.

This cover as well as many others wil be part of a collaboration series from ArtilleryDS x Damu x Redefinition Records called The Redefinition Series. In teaming up with Damu and Redef Records, my images will now have sound added. Damu will be remixing selected songs from the albums that I am revising art wise. ReVISIONS Cover No.6 by Joe Buck
R.I.P J Dilla. For this cover I used an image I created a few years ago when J Dilla passed on. The image (which is has been cropped for this cover) was created to to show the impact that Dilla has had on his fans and the music industry. I attempted to list all of his songs, tracks, production credits that I could find. I felt that the design is a good fit to go with the title Ruff Draft. Being a big Dilla fan I always felt that he looked at his career as a rough draft of sorts never taking himself too serious. He seemed to be driven by the need to constantly create and innovate. Creation is life and life is energy, I could live in that loop forever.

ReVISIONS Cover No.4 by Joe Buck
What can I say here. T-Pain is most definitely a colorful character. He is the self proclaimed ring leader of the urban music biz. I just decided to go nuts on this ReVISIONS cover. I really wanted to portray T-Pain as the ring master of an often chaotic business. You have tents or big tops if you will representing the various labels, you have the the T-Pain arm at the top (get it) orchestrating and juggling various sound and recording artists. Then we have T-Pain himself sporting a sound radiating speaker top hat, coordinating with a set of piano gold grills and the highly sort after gallaxy shades. I had a ripping good time creating this piece.

With the “Theatre of the Mind” cover I wanted to portray the idea that all that the music on this album was being projected the mind of Ludacris. I added in the well know theartre icon (happy face sad face) to symbolise the high energy and drama that ludacris puts forth in this release.

ReVISIONS Cover No.1 by Joe Buck
This is the first of my Album Cover ReVISIONS series. After listening to this album as well as truly understanding what Q-tip represents in hip hop, I had an almost mandatory feeling of needing to translate what I was hearing into art. What would hip hop be without true renaissance cat like Q-Tip. He proves his ability to wear this title by way of his MC, production, Dj, and beat diggin’ skills.
If you haven’t heard this albim yet, Pick it Up and give it a listen.
